Kuantan, 4th July 2023 : Kuantan 188 for the first time will organize a dragon boat race, Royal Pahang Dragon Boat Regatta 2023 located at Kuantan River.

5 categories will be contested on 30 & 31 July such as Open Pahang, Closed Pahang (open category) 12 and 22 participants, Closed Pahang (mixed category) 12 and 22 participants with the winners will bring back trophies, medals and cash.

The Director of Kuantan 188, Dato' Zulkifli Mohamad said, participation openly to the public is expected to promote Kuantan and Pahang, while helping to achieve the target of 13 million tourists in Pahang this year.

The event, which was held at the Kuantan Waterfront starting in front of the Marine's Department Jetty of Kuantan and finishing in front of the second tallest tower in Malaysia, Kuantan 188, was organised in collaboration with the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival (PIDBF) committee.

"We chose the Kuantan River as a strategic location and also because it has been so long since a water event was held on this river, it will definitely draw memories to visitors of the water party that was held in 2001".

"We welcome the participation of all Malaysians, especially from agencies such as Fire and Rescue Department, The Royal Police Force and local athletes to join and enliven this event again”.

With the full support and cooperation of the state of Pahang, Tourism Pahang and The sports and youth department, apart from the dragon boat competition, various other competitions are open to the public such as the Talent time competition, Kuantan 188 Challenge: Ada Bran? which will be held on 29 July.

"Kuantan 188 Challenge: Ada Bran?" is a competition to showcase Pahang folk talents such as singing, dancing, acting, and whatever else you believe will win the hearts of our judges.

"The first place winner will take home RM5000, second place RM3000 and RM2000 for third place,' he added when met at the Kopi Mat Kilau and Teh Tarik Sessions with the Media recently.

Other events such as Fun Run and Fun Ride, children's activities, Kids Club, Zumba, Amazing Race, traditional dance performances and fashion shows are also held throughout the three-day event from July 29th to July 31st.

"The fashion show will have the cooperation of several local universities such as Widad University College and University College of Yayasan Pahang by showcasing clothes made by the creativity of their students'.

They will also share the stage with the famous tudung brand, Bawal Exclusive and international label Me2We, a brand that produces clothing based on natural products and natural friendly materials by the famous fashion designer from Los Angeles, America, Simplicio Michael Luis or better known as 'M'.
